C2C– Day Three: Ennerdale Bridge to Seatoller
Today was an absolutely beautiful day for walking! The weather was warm and sunny with just the right amount of breeze, making it perfect for a day on the trail.
The route along Ennerdale Water was stunning, even if I had to scramble over a few rocks and navigate some sections where the path turned into a bit of a stream from the previous days rain now coming off the hills.
One of the highlights of the day was stopping by the Black Sail Hut, where I picked up a drink from the honesty shop. It's such a charming little spot, surrounded by fantastic hills on three sides. I was rather amused at the toilet sign, and amazed at the view when leaving the toilet, best view when exiting a washroom in the world?
Just after that, there was a challenging but rewarding climb up Loft Beck, which definitely made the legs work a bit harder. The views from the top were absolutely worth it, though!
A few miles later, dropping down to Honister Slate Mine, I snapped a fun picture of a slate pigeon perched on a slate pillar which I thought showed impressive skills.
All in all, it was about 14 miles today, and I can definitely feel it, but I'm looking forward to whatever tomorrow's leg of the journey brings!
True to form, I am now writing this entry with a well earned pint!
